ATLANTA - A man imprisoned for a series of bank robberies was named today as the second suspect in the 1999 slaying of an Atlanta marketing executive who was shot near a MARTA train station.
Twenty-seven-year-old Christopher Thomas was arrested in the death of Gordon Bynum Junior.
Yesterday, 25-year-old Anthony Tutman was charged with murder in the case.
The 44-year-old Bynum was shot in the chest shortly before midnight June ninth, 1999, as he left the rail station near Lenox Square after returning from a business trip. He was supposed to get married two weeks later.
Tutman and Thomas were among five men arrested last summer on the bank robbery charges. Tutman had already pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 57 months. Federal authorities said Tutman was out on bond and was to report to prison this month.
Investigators at the time speculated Bynum strolled into the path of two men who had robbed a parking attendant and were waiting on the walkway for a second target.
