Golden Olympics signup ends May 10

GAINESVILLE - May 10th is the last date to register to participate in the 18th Annual Golden Olympics of Northeast Georgia. All men and women age 50 years and over are invited to participate. <br> <br> Athletes are being sought for the following sports; swimming, tennis, cycling, bowling, ping-pong, baseball throw, golf, shuffleboard, track, field, billiards, checkers and horseshoes.<br> <br> Opening Ceremonies will be held Monday, May 20 at River Forks Park in Hall County. The morning will begin with the Senior Stroll at 9am followed by the opening ceremonies at 10:30am.<br> <br> The purpose of the games is to create an awareness of the abilities of older adults to maintain and improve health, wellness, and promote an interest in lifetime sports, recreation and physical activity.<br> <br> The registration fee is $10. There are additional fees for golf and bowling. Volunteers are also needed to work the event.
