ATLANTA - The heralded $9,000 scooters being used in Atlanta have hit a bump.
A member of the Central Atlanta Progress Ambassador Force toppled from one of the battery-powered scooters downtown about 8:40 p.m. Thursday.
The officer - whose name was not released - injured his knee going up a driveway onto the sidewalk. He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Atlanta is one of the first cities to get the Segway scooters for city employees.
Six of the 65-pound scooters were loaned to Atlanta police for 60 days last month by the company that's promoting them.
The city's Ambassador Force, Central Atlanta Progress and Georgia Power purchased ten more of the scooters for $9,000 each.
