VIENNA - Police responding to a one-car accident Friday morning discovered a stabbing victim whom officials say was being driven to the hospital by friends. Tyre Williams, 30, died at the hospital from multiple wounds.
Williams' girlfriend, Aletha Cross, 28, was charged with murder.
Vienna Police Chief David Musselwhite said the stabbing apparently was motivated by an argument the couple had earlier that night.
The two were partying with another couple Aretha Woods and Ronquillo Wilson of Americus when Williams and Cross started to argue and Williams left the house, reports said.
Several hours later, Williams allegedly broke back into the residence and ``was met with a knife,'' GBI special agent-in-charge Tom Davis said Friday.
Woods and Wilson were driving Williams to the hospital when Woods apparently ran her car off the road at about 6:30 a.m.
``I don't think they knew where they were,'' Musselwhite said.
Woods was charged with DUI, and Wilson was charged with interfering with emergency assistance and making terroristic threats.
All three were being held in the Dooly County jail.
