Nets take series lead over Hornets

EAST RUTHERFORD NJ - Jason Kidd has led the New Jersey Nets to a 99-to-93 win over Charlotte in game one of the Eastern Conference semifinal series. <br>

Kidd scored six of the Nets' final eight points, including a jumper with two-53 left that put them ahead to stay. He had team highs of 21 points, seven assists and seven rebounds. <br>
<br>
Todd MacCulloch was among seven Nets in double figures with 14 points and Kerry Kittles added 12. MacCulloch scored eleven points in the final period. <br>
<br>
Baron Davis paced the Hornets with 23 points but failed to generate much offense down the stretch. Elden Campbell had 22 points for Charlotte. <br>
<br>
Game two of the series is Tuesday at the Meadowlands.
