Auburn wants to tap into new reservoir

AUBURN - The Barrow County town of Auburn is hoping it can obtain its water service from the new Bear Creek Reservoir in Jackson County. <br> <br> The city currently gets water service from Gwinnett County and says that switching suppliers would drop consumer rates. <br> <br> Auburn is contracted with Gwinnett County for another five years but can get water from other sources. <br> <br> Other regional cities such as Statham have asked to obtain water from Bear Creek which was built collectively by Jackson, Barrow, Clark and Oconee counties. <br> <br> The city of Winder has already signed on.
