Massive sinkhole in midtown Atlanta filled

ATLANTA - Crews finished filling a massive sinkhold in Midtown Atlanta this afternoon, less than 24 hours after the sinkhole formed and threatened to swallow up a truck. <br> <br> State transportation officials say the repairs will make Thursday night&#39;s commute easier than Thursday morning&#39;s. <br> <br> Truck driver Buddy Shellnut was delivering asphalt to a local construction site when the road along 14th Street gave way under pressure. His dump truck -- carrying 15 tons of asphalt -- plunged below the road around 11 a.m. Wednesday. <br> <br> Officials said no one was injured but it took nearly three hours to remove the truck. The sinkhole was 13 feet wide and 15 feet deep. <br> <br> Public Works officials said a pipe that was ten feet beneath the truck gave way and washed out. <br> <br> In 1993, a sinkhole caved in -- killing two people and swallowing up 200 feet of a hotel parking lot not far from the site.
