Jewel thief hits Kmart stores - including Cumming

CARROLLTON - Authorities in Carrollton are looking for a thief who has stolen about $230,000 in jewelry and cigarettes from nine Kmart stores in north Georgia in the past month. <br> <br> Police Chief Michael Mansour said the man robbed a Carrollton store May 1, taking about $25,000 in diamond rings and other jewelry. <br> <br> A surveillance video showed the man crawling behind the jewelry counter three times in a 23-minute period before taking a whole tray of jewelry at the store about 30 miles west of Atlanta. <br> <br> Authorities believe the same man is responsible for thefts at eight other Kmart stores, including ones in Douglasville, Cumming and Athens. <br> <br> ``We&#39;ve confirmed he definitely did the Athens one and the Cumming one because we&#39;ve got videotapes from them and it&#39;s definitely the same guy,&#39;&#39; Mansour said. ``He&#39;s been very successful, so far.&#39;&#39;
