Man, 78, dies while snorkeling in pond

DUBLIN - A 78-year-old Laurens County man died Friday while snorkeling in a pond near his home, authorities said. <br> <br> The man, whose name was not released, was discovered floating face down by two girls who were also at the pond, state Ranger Richard Burnette said. <br> <br> Burnette said the man&#39;s body has been sent to the state crime lab for an autopsy to determine the cause of death. <br> <br> ``The girls had been at the pond,&#39;&#39; Burnette said. ``They left and came back and saw him face down in the water.&#39;&#39; He said at first they thought the elderly man was still snorkeling but then realized he was not moving. <br> <br> ``They swam out and pulled him ashore,&#39;&#39; Burnette said. <br> <br> Burnette said the man moved to Laurens County from Florida where he was known to have snorkeled daily.
