Stretch of interstate to be named for Arnall

NEWNAN - Officials in Coweta County will dedicate a stretch of Interstate 85 to the memory of former Governor Ellis Arnall tomorrow. <br> <br> The Georgia Department of Transportation is naming the section of the interstate between Highway 154 and Highway 34 the Governor Ellis Gibbs Arnall Memorial Highway. <br> <br> Arnall Middle School and a public parking lot in downtown Newnan also are named for Arnall, who was governor from 1943 to 1947. He lived in Newnan and practiced law there. <br> <br> Dedication ceremonies for the highway will be at 2:30 p-m at the Coweta County Welcome Center off Highway 34. <br> <br> State Representative Lynn Smith wrote the resolution naming the road for Arnall. She will introduce dignitaries during the ceremony. <br> <br> Signs marking the highway will be placed prior to the ceremony. <br> <br> Arnall died December 13th, 1992, and was buried at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan. <br> <br>
