Thomson high school student dies in one-car crash

THOMSON - A 16-year-old Thomson High School student died and two of his classmates were seriously injured Monday in a one-car crash. <br>

Ryan Rodgers, a passenger in the car, was pronounced dead at McDuffie Medical Regional Center at 4:30 p.m., about an hour after the crash in Thomson, 30 miles west of Augusta. <br>

The driver was identified as an 18-year-old from Dearing, and the other passenger was an 18-year-old from Thomson. Both were taken to the hospital and listed in serious condition. <br>

The three students were on their way to an extracurricular class at the Augusta Technical College satellite campus in Thomson, authorities said. <br>
<br>
As they rounded a curve, the driver lost control and the car left the road, rolling three times before it struck several trees, according to the Georgia State Patrol.
