Rep. Shanahan decides against re-election

CALHOUN - State Rep. Tom Shanahan, D-Calhoun, said Wednesday that he will not seek re-election to a sixth term. <br> <br> ``I have had great support from both my family and from the people of Gordon County, and I truly feel that my efforts have been appreciated. However, for now, I feel that I need to devote more of my time and energy to my family and to my law practice,&#39;&#39; Shanahan said in a written statement. <br> <br> He said he might seek public office again someday, but ``for now, I look forward to returning to the role of private citizen.&#39;&#39;
