Murder charge dropped

CARNESVILLE - A murder charge has been dropped against a northeast Georgia woman who was accused of causing her baby&#39;s death by taking drugs during pregnancy. <br> <br> Shannon Moss of Canon gave birth three years ago to twins. One of them died shortly after delivery. <br> <br> After learning that blood drawn from Moss tested positive for cocaine and methamphetamines, she was charged with murder. An autopsy found no trace of illegal drugs in the baby&#39;s body. <br> <br> Franklin County District Attorney Bob Lavender said the murder case had other problems. One was an appellate court decision prohibiting the use of subpoenas to obtain medical records. <br> <br> Lavender also said he may have had a difficult time proving the baby was born alive -- even though her death certificate said she lived five minutes. <br> <br> Moss pleaded guilty to drug possession and was sentenced to five years&#39; probation. The 23-year-old&#39;s lawyer -- F. Mayes Davison of Royston -- said she has been drug-free, obtained her GED and has a full-time job.<br> <br>
