ANNISTON, ALABAMA - A suspect was arrested Friday in the execution-style killing of four young men in a video rental store.
Police Chief Wayne Chandler said the suspect, whose named was not immediately available, was arrested outside Calhoun County. Additional details were expected to be released at a police news conference.
A break in the case apparently came from Carroll County, Georgia, where Sheriff Terry Langley said an arrest had been made in a murder-armed robbery that happened in Carrollton, Georgia, last Friday. He said that crime was possibly related to the Anniston slayings.
The four Anniston victims, including two employees and two brothers browsing for videos, were shot to death during the robbery about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at a Blockbuster video store. Three of the four victims were shot in the back of the head.
The victims were identified as 22-year-old employee Austin Joplin of Jacksonville and 27-year-old employee Douglas Neal of Tallapoosa, Georgia, who were found in an office in the rear of the store; and brothers from Jacksonville -- 21-year-old Joseph Michael Burch and 19-year-old Andrew Robert Burch.
