2002 Hall County Sports Awards Banquet winners announced

The 2002 Hall County Sports Awards Banquet winners announced Tuesday night at a special celebration of local sports coaches, players and volunteers at the Gainesville Civic Center.<br> <br> Finalists were picked on the basis of what their supporters submitted on nomination forms based on the established criteria. <br> <br> As always, the finalists and winners were determined by an outside agency. This year the Atlanta Falcons Staff tackled the tough task of picking our honorees. <br> <br> The 2002 winner of the Gene Beckstein Scholarship Award went to Drew Williams of Johnson High School. On the Johnson High School football team, Drew has been the leading receiver during his Junior and Senior years while also playing outside linebacker on defense; on the Johnson High School basketball team, he has been the starting center for 2 years. Drew is one of the top golfers at JHS, and he even squeezed in enough time to be a part of the 4 by 400 relay team which finished second in the entire region.<br> <br> His grade point of 4.411 ranks him second <br> among the 210 people in his senior class. All of his core academic classes have been honors, he has been nominated for Governor's Honors twice. He has been selected to attend the National Youth Conference On Law and plans to attend the Honors Program at the University Of Georgia, major in accounting and attend Law School
