BRUNSWICK - A Glynn County Board of Education member who wanted to ban books containing foul language has been accused of screaming profanities at another member during a recent meeting.
Board member Rudy Robinson said Debra Swindall offended her during a closed board meeting May 13.
In the letter to Swindall obtained by The Brunswick News, Robinson said, ``I am offended by your vulgar and inappropriate language, your screaming, and most specifically your use of God's name in vain when you addressed me.''
Swindall said she might have used some profanity, but defended her comments by saying she spoke in a closed session.
Last year, the school board considered banning any books with profanity from the classroom, particularly J.D. Salinger's ``The Catcher in the Rye.'' But after two months of discussions, no action was taken.
