DMV predicts 20 fatalities during Memorial Day holiday

ATLANTA - The Department of Motor Vehicle Safety predicts 20 people will die on Georgia roads during the 78-hour Memorial Day holiday. <br>
<br>
The count begins at 6 p.m. Friday and runs through midnight Monday. <br>
<br>
The department predicts 2,218 accidents, with 714 injuries. <br>
<br>
Last year, 15 people died during the Memorial Day weekend. A total of 618 people were injured in 2,175 accidents. <br>
<br>
The Department of Motor Vehicle Safety became the agency responsible for gathering, storing and producing holiday predictions on July 1st, 2001. <br>
<br>
The Department of Public Safety began keeping statistics on Memorial Day holidays in 1969.
