Lady Bulldogs eliminated from NCAA tennis championships

STANFORD, CALIFORNIA - All Lady Bulldogs were eliminated from the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships Wednesday at the Taube Family Tennis Center. <br> <br> Sophomore Agata Cioroch lost in the round of 16 of the singles championships and the doubles pair of Cioroch and Junior Lori Grey was defeated in the first round of the doubles competition.<br> <br> Seventh-ranked and the No. 5 seed Cioroch fell to Gabriel Lastra of Stanford this morning. Lastra, sixth-ranked and a 9-16 seed, took a straight set 6-0, 6-4 victory over Cioroch to advance in the championships. Cioroch ends her season with an impressive and team best 42-6 record, including 21-6 against ranked opponents and 22-2 at the No. 1 position. Cioroch improved her career record to 68-6.<br> <br> In the afternoon, Cioroch teamed up with Grey in the doubles championships. The 15th-ranked Georgia duo lost to No. 18 South Carolina team of Jennifer Radman and Kathy Boyanovich 7-5, 6-3. Cioroch and Grey struggled at the end of the season, losing seven of their last nine matches. The pair finishes the season with a 26-15 record, including at 18-11 at No. 1.<br> <br> The Lady Bulldogs season is now over. Georgia finished the season 26-2, the third best season in the Bulldog program. With a probable top ten finish, Georgia will have finished in the top 10 of the ITA rankings 15 times in the program&#39;s history. All 15 have come in the past 17 years, with Jeff Wallace as head coach.
