ATLANTA - Republican gubernatorial candidate Sonny Perdue got sharp words Wednesday for a new campaign video that depicts Governor Barnes as a giant rat.
But the criticism is coming from other Republicans, not the Democratic governor.

Perdue's challengers in the Republican primary called the video ``disgusting'' and ``malicious'' and called on Perdue to stop distributing the ten-minute movie, which shows a giant rat wearing a ``King Roy'' necklace and climbing Atlanta skyscrapers.
Perdue plans to send two-thousand copies to supporters, and the short movie was made available free on his Web site today.
Another candidate seeking the GOP nomination, Bill Byrne, called the video ``disgusting.''

In a statement, Byrne said, ``This cartoon approach and personal attack on Roy Barnes defines the credibility of Sonny Perdue, not Roy Barnes.''
Republican candidate Linda Schrenko also denounced the video, answering a reporter's question whether she'd seen it at a news conference.
Schrenko said the ad went over the line and was in poor taste. She called the video ``malicious.''
