Pam Fine resigns as managing editor of the Star Tribune

MINNEAPOLIS - Pam Fine will step down as managing editor of the Star Tribune, effective June 7. <br> <br> Word of her departure came a week after the announcement that top editor Tim McGuire will retire June 13. <br> <br> In a message to the staff Friday, Fine did not say why she was leaving or give specifics about her plans other than that she will remain in Minneapolis. <br> <br> Fine wrote, ``I believe it&#39;s a good time for me to start anew and while I don&#39;t know what the future holds, I&#39;m confident of its promise.&#39;&#39; <br> <br> Fine did not return a phone call from The Associated Press seeking comment. <br> <br> Fine came to the Star Tribune in 1995 from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, where she was assistant managing editor. <br> <br> The paper announced last week that McGuire will be succeeded by Anders Gyllenhaal, senior vice president and executive editor at The News And Observer in Raleigh, North Carolina. <br> <br> Both papers are owned by Sacramento, California-based McClatchy Company. <br> <br> The Star Tribune is the largest paper in the group and the largest in Minnesota, with average weekday circulation of about 376,000.
