Power pole damaged by truck causes outages

GAINESVILLE - An early morning incident in the Big Lots Shopping center on Pearl Nix Parkway Saturday morning had Georgia Power crews repairing a power pole and lines.

According to gainesville Police, an 18-wheeler collided with the pole, snapping the top of the pole into two pieces.

The damage caused outages around the intersection of Browns Bridge Road and Pearl Nix. The city provided a generator to Georgia Power to get the lights up and running.

Gainesville Police are investigating the incident.

Georgia Power estimated it would take several hours to repair the damage.
