State Troopers in northeast Georgia have worked more than 140 accidents involving at least 50 injuries but no fatalities since the holiday period officially started Friday at 6:00 p.m.
One of the wrecks, at about 2:00 a.m. Saturday in Banks County, involved at least one serious injury.
Across Georgia, 18 people had died and 460 injured at last report in more than 1,800 crashes The Department of Motor Vehicle Safety predicted 20 people would die on Georgia roads during the 78-hour Memorial Day holiday. The travel period officially ends at midnight Monday.
