AUGUSTA - An Augusta man whose vanity license plate says ``LUVSUX'' has had the tag revoked because of its ``offensive connotation.''
The man, David Ford, says he received a letter from the Georgia Department of Motor Vehicle Safety telling him to turn in the tag, even though it was approved ten months ago.

Department officials said another tag using the ``SUX'' combination was denied recently after a complaint was filed, leading them to revoke Ford's tag as well.

A spokeswoman said the department recalls tags that are determined to be obscene, profane or defamatory of a religious, race or ethnic group.

Ford said he chose the tag from a list of possible choices he came up with because ``our culture puts too much emphasis on the concept of romantic love.''
But he also said the vanity tag is important to him because, ``When you drive a Geo Metro, you need something.''
