Columbus St. still alive in NCAA Division II baseball

MONTGOMERY, ALABAMA - Center fielder Shawn Sewell had three hits, including an RBI double to help break a tie in the sixth inning, as Columbus State defeated Kutztown 6-3 Wednesday in the Division II College World Series. <br> <br> Columbus State (45-15) scored two runs in the sixth inning to break a 3-3 tie on Sewell&#39;s double and a sacrifice fly by Ben Sutter. The loss eliminated Kutztown (36-24) from the tournament. <br> <br> The Cougars advance to a game at 2:30 p.m. Thursday against Central Missouri State, unbeaten in the tournament. <br> <br> Kutztown scored all of its runs in the fifth inning off of Cougar starter and winning pitcher Jason Burdette (10-2). Columbus State relievers Hurston Pittman and Brian Baker held the Golden Bears scoreless over the final three innings. <br> <br> Matt Haverly (5-3) was the losing pitcher for Kutztown.
