Helicopter reconnaissance flights continued Friday, with officials saying there is no immediate threat to homes or communities in the area.
The Blackjack Fire, located in the south edge of the swamp, became active Thursday and traveled through the south-central part of the refuge to the southern refuge.
The 400,000-acre swamp, which straddles the Georgia-Florida border, has been the site of more than 12 major fires since 1989.
