Gray lowers hurricane forecast

FORT COLLINS - Hurricane forecaster Dr. William Gray is lowering his hurricane prognostication a bit for the coming season. <br> <br> The Atlantic hurricane season starts tomorrow and lasts through November. Gray and his Colleagues at Colorado State University are now predicting an average season. But - in his words - things will still be ``reasonably active.&#39;&#39; <br> <br> Gray is now calling for eleven named storms, including six hurricanes. He predicts two of them will be major hurricanes at Category Three or stronger. <br> <br> The number is down a bit from the earlier prediction of 12 names storms and three major hurricanes. <br> <br> Gray says sea surface temperatues are cooler than expected. He also notes the weak El Nino in the eastern Pacific is playing a role.
