SANTA CLARA, CALIFORNIA - A family of four in California was discovered dead in their home Thursday and police were investigating the incident as a murder-suicide.
Police Detective Kurt Clarke would not say how the family was killed or which parent was responsible for the deaths.

"It's a very disturbing crime scene especially with the children," he said. "When you have a murder-suicide, the kids are always the innocent victims. Parents are supposed to protect their kids."
The bodies of a 38-year-old man, a 42-year-old woman and two girls, ages 12 and 4, were found about 12:30 p.m. The 4-year-old girl was the couple's daughter and the older girl was the wife's child.
The bodies were found after the man's boss stopped by to check on him because he hadn't shown up at work for several days. Both men worked in the high-tech industry, Clarke said.
When there was no answer at the front door, the boss went around to the back of the two-story house and saw a body inside. He called 911.
"There are bodies. There's a lot of blood. It's disturbing," Clarke said. He did not know when the family was killed.
