Booby-trap kills 13 Israeli troops

JERUSALEM - An Israeli military source confirms that 13 Israeli soldiers were killed Tuesday in the West Bank refugee camp of Jenin. <br> <br> The source says it happened when they entered a booby-trapped building during an assault on Palestinian militants. <br> <br> It&#39;s the single deadliest incident involving Israeli forces in the past 18 months of Israeli-Palestinian fighting.<br> <br> Nine other soldiers were hurt.<br> <br> The troops reportedly were members of a reserve contingent that had recently been activated and pressed into the West Bank offensive. The soldiers had been searching the camp, which has been the scene of the heaviest fighting during Israel&#39;s 12-day military campaign in the West Bank. <br> <br> Palestinian gunmen apparently planted bombs in the buildings. One camp resident was told by gunmen that they saw a group of 20 soldiers enter a building -- where explosives were then set off inside.
