D.C. banks warned of bomb threat

WASHINGTON - The FBI warned banks in the nation&#39;s capital of a bomb threat Monday and urged them to evacuate branch offices downtown, according to federal bank regulators. <br> <br> &#34;We&#39;ve been alerted to the fact and are referring all calls to the FBI,&#34; said Don Powell, chairman of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. &#34;There is an alert concerning a possible bomb at a bank.&#34; <br> <br> At least one downtown bank closed temporarily. <br> <br> A sign on an Eagle Bank branch in downtown Washington read, &#34;Temporarily closed due to emergency.&#34; The sign indicated the bank would reopen in the afternoon. <br> <br>
