PELHAM, ALABAMA - About 200 people were arrested on drug charges during a three-night undercover crackdown at a rock concert, where one person died of an overdose.
About half of the arrests at the outdoor show of the Athens-based band Widespread Panic were felony drug cases. The rest involved misdemeanor drug and underage drinking charges.
The crackdown -- called Operation Don't Panic -- was conducted over the weekend by agents of the state alcoholic beverage control board and Pelham police at the Oak Mountain Amphitheatre.
About 30,000 fans attended the sold-out concert of the group at the amphitheater, located south of Birmingham.
The Birmingham News, which reported the death in today's paper, said Young collapsed about 10 p.m. Saturday, while people continuing to dance around her before she was finally dragged from the stands and given CPR. She died about an hour later.
