CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Jeff Lebo was hired as Chattanooga's basketball coach Friday after a 27-7 season at Tennessee Tech, the best in school history.
Chattanooga also hired Steve Sloan as athletic director. He resigned as athletic director at Central Florida on Thursday.
Lebo, the former North Carolina player who spent a season in the NBA with San Antonio, replaces Henry Dickerson. Dickerson was reassigned to the Office of Student Affairs after a 16-14 season.
Lebo has a 10-year renewable contract and Sloan's deal is for six years, chancellor Bill Stacy said. Each will be paid $175,000 annually.
Lebo was 75-43 in four seasons at Tennessee Tech. The Golden Eagles last season won their second straight Ohio Valley Conference regular-season championship and advanced to the NIT quarterfinals.
"We've had a great four years with Jeff," Tennessee Tech athletic director David Larimore said. "I'm disappointed he's going, but we're ready to move on."
Sloan replaces athletic director Oval Jaynes, who also was reassigned earlier this year. He and Lebo previously worked together at Vanderbilt.
Sloan directed Central Florida from Division I-AA to Division I-A.
