Hogs rally to beat No. 4 S. Carolina; SEC roundup

FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS - A three-run home run by Jeff Fletcher in the 15th inning gave Arkansas an 8-7 victory Saturday over South Carolina. <br> <br> Ryan Fox provided much of the offense for the Razorbacks, going 5-for-6 at the plate - including a home run in the third and driving in 3 RBIs. <br> <br> The Razorbacks (17-11, 4-5 Southeastern Conference), scored three runs in the first inning, not answered until South Carolina scored a lone run in the second. <br> <br> Arkansas got another run in the third inning, but the Gamecocks (24-8, 6-5) didn&#39;t score again until the eighth. But one run in that frame and two more in the ninth tied the game at 4 and sent it into extra innings. <br> <br> Neither team scored again until the 14th inning, when each got a single run to keep the contest going. South Carolina got a pair of runs in the 15th. But Fletcher&#39;s homer negated the Gamecock&#39;s effort. <br> <br> Scott Woods (4-0) got the win with a single inning on the mound. Matt Campbell (0-2) took the loss for the Gamecocks.<br> <br> ALABAMA 7, FLORIDA 2<br> <br> TUSCALOOSA, ALABAMA - Jeremy Brown hit a grand-slam home run in the third inning to help Alabama to a 7-2 win over Florida on Saturday. <br> <br> Jeffrey Norris (2-0) earned the win for Alabama (27-5, 8-2). Norris allowed 10 hits and two runs and struck out three in about six innings of work. <br> <br> Scott McClanahan was 2-for-3 with 2 RBIs for the Crimson Tide. <br> <br> Pat Osborn was 3-for-3 with an RBI to lead Florida (24-9, 6-5). Alex Hart (8-1) got the loss for the Gators, allowing six hits and seven runs in a little more than seven innings. <br> <br> Florida head coach Pat McMahon and assistant coach John Cohen were ejected for arguing balls and strikes in the top of the seventh inning.<br> <br> OLE MISS 6, VANDERBILT 1<br> <br> OXFORD, MISSISSIPPI - Pete Montrenes allowed five hits and a run in seven innings and Dustin Cliburn hit a three-run home run as Mississippi won its ninth straight with a 6-1 victory over Vanderbilt. <br> <br> Montrenes (7-2) followed up J.R. Pickens&#39; strong outing on Friday night with more stellar pitching for the Rebels (24-7, 7-4 Southeastern Conference). Pickens pitched eight shutout innings in a 9-0 victory. <br> <br> Montrenes struck out eight and walked three. T.J. Beam allowed one hit in the final two innings. Ole Miss has held the Commodores (14-11, 3-6) to 10 hits in the first two games of the three-game set. <br> <br> Cliburn hit his second homer of the season in the fourth to put Ole Miss up 3-0. Matt Mossberg stole home on the front end of a double steal to extend the lead to 4-0 in the fourth. <br> <br> Seth Smith was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored for the Rebels. <br> <br> Freshman Jeremy Sowers (3-3) gave up six runs on eight hits and two walks, while striking out seven in eight innings. <br> <br> Sean Luellwitz was 2-for-4 for Vanderbilt.<br> <br> AUBURN 11, LSU 3<br> <br> AUBURN, ALABAMA - Javon Moran was 2-for-5, including a two-run home run, and Auburn scored six runs in the sixth inning on the way to a 11-3 win over LSU on Saturday. <br> <br> Colby Paxton (7-2) earned the win for Auburn (24-9, 6-5 Southeastern Conference). He allowed nine hits and three runs and struck out four in six innings of work. <br> <br> Aaron Hill went 2-for-4 with a home run to lead LSU (19-13, 4-6). Bo Pettit (3-5) got the loss, allowing three runs in just two innings of work.
