Fonda helps open home for unwed mothers

DALTON - Jane Fonda lobbied the state for money to pay for group homes for unwed mothers around Georgia. <br>

Friday, she showed up in Dalton to help dedicate one of them -- the Oak Haven home. <br>
<br>
Young girls face a number of pressures, and they need a safe place to break the cycle of despair, said the actr8ess, who lives in Atlanta. <br>
<br>
Oak Haven has room for six mothers and their children, and there's a waiting list of seven more. <br>
<br>
Fonda began the Georgia Council for Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention in 1995 while securing $2.4 million from the Georgia Legislature to pay for seven group homes throughout the state.
