Zeier-led Force mauled by SaberCats

ATLANTA - The new Arena Football League in Atlanta lost its first game at Philips Arena. The Georgia Force lost to the San Jose CyberCats 68-35 Friday night in a preseason game before an announced crowd of 9,000. <br>

Force quarterback and former Georgia Bulldog star Eric Zeier was 10-for-20 passing for 84 yards and two interceptions. <br>
<br>
Three passes were dropped, and Zeier was sacked twice. <br>
<br>
San Jose's Mark Grieb, the Arena League's top-rated passer last season, connected with James Hundon six times for 157 yards and three touchdowns in the first half.<br>
<br>
The AFL plays on a 50-yard field and is dominated by the passing game. The Force is composed of remnants of the Nashville Kats, the ArenaBowl runnerup last season.<br>
<br>
The SaberCats lost in the semifinals and were second in scoring with an averaage of almost 60 points a game.<br>
<br>
Georgia's regular-season opener is April 28 in Atlanta against Orlando.
