COLLEGE PARK, Maryland- A bench-clearing brawl between Maryland and Georgia Tech prompted officials to suspend the game.

The Yellow Jackets were leading 12-Oh in the seventh inning of Sunday's game when pitcher Jeff Watchko threw a pitch behind Terrapins catcher Jason Maxey. Moments later, Maxey hit a solo home run to center field and exchanged words with Watchko as he rounded the bases.

Watchko was ejected, and as the Terps gathered at home plate to congratulate Maxey, Georgia Tech catcher Tyler Parker got into an argument with some Terrapins, according a statement from officials at Maryland. Georgia Tech players then rushed onto the field.

The umpires conferred for about an hour before deciding to suspend the game because of Georgia Tech's travel arrangements. The statement indicated that the Atlantic Coast Conference will decide the outcome of the game Monday.
