CLARKESVILLE - The Habersham County Commission is considering abolishing inspections by the county building and planning department - a move opposed by the county home builders association.
The Board of Directors of the Home Builders Association of Habersham/White County has voted unanimously to oppose the move.

The board says it is afraid abolishment of the inspections could lead to substandard construction.
The home builders group also says removing the inspections would mandate EPD oversight and inspection - greatly increasing the time it takes to get permits approved in Habersham County.
