Clemson outslugs Western Carolina

CLEMSON, S.C. - Michael Johnson homered twice as Clemson beat Western Carolina 13-9 on Tuesday. <br>

The Tigers (31-4) scored five runs in the seventh to pull away from the Catamounts (22-13). The inning was capped by Khalil Greene's three-run homer, his 11th this season, that put the Tigers up for good. <br>

There was five lead changes before the seventh. <br>
<br>
The Catamounts took an early lead but Clemson answered in the bottom of the first with Jeff Baker's two-run homer. <br>
<br>
Western Carolina came back with three runs in the third after Todd Buchanan's two-run double. Clemson regained the lead 6-4 in the bottom of that inning when Johnson homered and Coder singled in a run. <br>
<br>
Western Carolina's Buchanan hit a grand slam in the sixth to give the Catamounts an 8-6 lead, but Johnson's second homer tied the game at eight. <br>
<br>
DeMaino and Coder each had three hits for Clemson. <br>
<br>
Buchanan led Western Carolina with four hits and Alan Beck had three. <br>
<br>
Thomas Boozer (1-0) got the win by allowing two hits and one run. Seth Foster (6-2) took the loss.
