HOMER- Banks County will have a new girls basketball coach and athletic director next year, and it will be the same man.
The Banks Board of Education has hired Robert Sain out of Tullahoma High in Tullahoma, Tennessee to take over both jobs. It is reportedly the first time in the school's history that the BOE has gone out of state to fill a head coaching vacancy at the varsity level. Tullahoma is a school nearly twice the size of Banks County High.
Sain, with a master's degree in education, will take over the AD's post as Greg Moore who is in that position now, will step aside to devote more time to his position as head football coach for the Leopards.
Sain was 59-75 at Tullahoma since 1997. In 1998, he was named district Coach of the Year. His Lady Wildcats did suffer through a 3-25 campaign this past season.
Sain has also won awards in coaching girls' tennis at Tullahoma as well.
He and his wife and daughter are planning to move to Banks County in June.
Sain replaces long-time Leopard coach Mike Gordon, who is retiring.
