ATLANTA - Greg Maddux is scheduled to pitch against the Marlins Saturday night. Maddux left his start Wednesday after one inning because of a sore back.
The four-time Cy Young Award winner returned from his first career trip to the disabled list last Friday and pitched five scoreless innings in a 2-0 win over Florida.
Jason Marquis was supposed to start last night but was out with a sore shoulder. Marquis' next scheduled start is Tuesday, when the Braves begin a three-game series against Arizon.
Tom Glavine is scheduled to pitch Sunday, followed by Kevin Millwood on Monday when Atlanta wraps up four games against Florida.
And, Gary Sheffield is listed as day-to-day with a sprained left wrist. Sheffield was held out of the lineup for the third straight game last night.
The Atlanta right fielder - who was hit by pitches twice at Philadelphia on April 11th - took a cortisone shot Thursday.
Julio Franco, batting in Sheffield's cleanup spot, started at first base. B.J. Surhoff moved from first to right field.
Acquired in an off-season trade that sent Brian Jordan and Odalis Perez to Los Angeles, Sheffield is batting .263 with three homers and nine RBI's. He is hitless in his last 11 at-bats.
