Kansas City, Missouri - Jeremy Allfeldt earned his first major league victory with three and two-third innings of hitless relief as Kansas City jumped past Detroit 8-to-2.

The score was tied at 2-all when Affledt relieved starter Chris George with one out in the top of the sixth. The Royals went ahead in the bottom of the sixth on a two-run double by Neifi Perez, who drove in three runs on the day. Brent Mayne scored an insurance run later in that inning on a violent collision with catcher Mike Rivera, and the Royals put away the game with three more runs in the seventh.

Steve Sparks took the loss.

The game was played in winds gusting over 35 miles an hour that created several adventurous fly balls throughout the entire nine innings.
