DETRIOT - The Detroit Red Wings own a three-games-to-two lead in their first-round series after scoring four times in the first period of a 4-to-0 shutout of Vancouver. <br>

The Red Wings have won the last three games following two straight losses at Joe Louis Arena. <br>

Sergei Fedorov scored the first and last goals of the opening period after managing just one goal in the first four games. Mathieu Danenault and Boyd Devereaux scored one-57 apart to make it 3-to-0. Fedorov assisted on Dandenault's shorthanded goal before Deveraux's goal chased Dan Cloutier from the nets. Cloutier stopped six of nine shots. <br>

Brett Hull had two assists after failing to record a point in the series. Brendan Shanahan also set up two goals. <br>
<br>
Dominik Hasek stopped 25 shots for the Wings, who travel to Vancouver for game six Saturday.
