Brenau Library receives rare book collection

GAINESVILLE - Brenau University is the recipient of a gift of 2,000 rare books from Fred Bentley, a Marietta attorney and rare
book collector.

The value of the donation has been placed at about $69,000 and Bentley says the quality of it puts Brenau's rare books collection in the same league as those ofthe University of Georgia, Emory, and Kennesaw State.

Some of the more common titles in the donation include: a first edition, ten volume Dickens set; a first edition, two-volume collection of Elizabeth Browning's poems; and, several first editions of Robert Brownings's books.

Bentley has been donating books to Brenau for over 40 years.
