ATLANTA - State School Superintendent Linda Schrenko says her husband's health will not take her out of the governor's race in the fall.
Rumors that Schrenko would leave the race began about a month ago when her husband of more than 30 years became sick.
Doctors had found a tumor near Frank Schrenko's adrenal gland. Part of the tumor has been removed, Schrenko said in an interview with The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
``Frank said to me, 'You do not drop out,''' Schrenko said. ``He is comfortable with me staying in the race.''
Schrenko, is running against former state Sen. Sonny Perdue of Bonaire and Cobb County Commission Chairman Bill Byrne in the upcoming Aug. 20 Republican primary.
The winner will face Gov. Roy Barnes, a Democrat.
