McWhorter hired by Texas

AUSTIN, TEXAS - Mac McWhorter - who led Georgia Tech to victory over Stanford in the Seattle Bowl - has been hired as an assistant coach at Texas. <br> <br> McWhorter will coach offensive tackles and tight ends for the Longhorns. He replaces tight ends coach Tim Brewster, who joined the San Diego Chargers as an assistant coach Monday. <br> <br> McWhorter became interim coach at Tech when George O&#39;Leary left for Notre Dame. <br> <br> McWhorter was a Yellow Jackets assistant from 1980 until 1986. <br> <br> He had stops at Alabama, West Georgia, Duke, Georgia, Clemson and Memphis before returning to Tech in 2000.
