Augusta thanked by New York fireman

AUGUSTA - New York firefighter Brian Dixon arrived in Augusta Friday for a VIP visit to thank him and other firefighters for their efforts on September 11. <br>

Dixon's all-expenses-paid weekend is being sponsored by the U.S. Conference of Mayors and NYC and Company. He's one of 200 New York City firefighters visiting other American cities this weekend as part of the program. <br>
<br>
Mayors hope it will also promote travel and tourism nationwide. <br>
<br>
A 32-year veteran of his department, Dixon visited with city dignitaries Friday. Saurday he'll stop by several local fire stations, visit the Augusta National pro shop and play golf at a local course. He'll also have dinner with professional boxer and Augusta native Vernon Forrest.
