Augusta thanked by New York fireman

AUGUSTA - New York firefighter Brian Dixon arrived in Augusta Friday for a VIP visit to thank him and other firefighters for their efforts on September 11. <br> <br> Dixon&#39;s all-expenses-paid weekend is being sponsored by the U.S. Conference of Mayors and NYC and Company. He&#39;s one of 200 New York City firefighters visiting other American cities this weekend as part of the program. <br> <br> Mayors hope it will also promote travel and tourism nationwide. <br> <br> A 32-year veteran of his department, Dixon visited with city dignitaries Friday. Saurday he&#39;ll stop by several local fire stations, visit the Augusta National pro shop and play golf at a local course. He&#39;ll also have dinner with professional boxer and Augusta native Vernon Forrest.
