ASA cancels nine Augusta flights

AUGUSTA - Dozens of travelers were stranded after Atlantic Southeast Airlines canceled nine flights through Augusta Regional Airport this weekend. <br> <br> Company officials said an automated weather observation device wasn&#39;t working. <br> <br> ``My understanding of ASA company policy is they cannot operate without that system in place,&#39;&#39; said Kathryn Solee, a spokeswoman for Augusta Regional. <br> <br> Nearly 500 people were affected after six flights were canceled Sunday and three on Monday. Travelers were stranded in Augusta and Atlanta airports. <br> <br> The Automated Surface Observation System reports temperature and dew point. A technician had been notified. Flights involving US Airways were not affected, Solee said. <br> <br> ASA spokesman Sam Watts said the company arranged bus transportation for those booked on the first canceled flight out of Atlanta. <br> <br> ``They are doing everything they can,&#39;&#39; he said. <br> <br>
