Lakeview baseball, RMA tennis get wins

Some sporting events fell victim to the icy weather around northeast Georgia Monday, but others managed to play. The Lakeview baseball team walloped Riverside Military Academy 9-0 in the season opener for both teams. Brian Brown not only got the win on the mound, he had three hits, including a couple of double and 2RBI. He struck out seven and walked only one in five innings before J.B. Little came in and struck out two more in the last two framed. The two combined on a 3-hitter. Nathan Crumley had two hits and 3RBI for the winners. Alan Westbrook got the loss for RMA, which is slated at Apalachee. Lakeview is to travel to Banks County for the first game of a doubleheader. Banks has also scheduled Habersham Central in today. Riverside had better luck in the Hall County Tennis Tournament, knocking off the Johnson boys 5-0. The Eagles are scheduled to play at the West Hall boys Tuesday. In other Tuesday tennis, North Hall is slated to host Central Gwinnett, while Buford hosts Rabun Gap. The Johnson soccer matches which were to be played at White County Monday were postponed until later by the freezing weather. The Rabun County/Riverside soccer match was postponed until March 21 when Rabun had transportation problems. In girls' soccer scheduled for Tuesday, East Hall is to host Banks County; Gainesvile is set to host North Forsyth;Lakeview is to plat at Lumpkin County; West Hall hosts Grayson; and North Hall is at Habersham Central. In boys' soccer, Gainesville hosts North Forsyth; Johnson is at Grayson; North Hall is set at Lumpkin County; and West Hall is scheduled at Clarke Central. In golf, Buford is set to play Providence Tuesday, while the Riverside golf match scheduled for Thursday at the Olde Atlanta Golf Club has reportedly been put off indefinitely. On the track, West Hall is set to open at Johnson, while East Hall does likewise at White County.
