NEW YORK, NEW YORK - Rapper Sean ``P. Diddy'' Combs and model Kim Porter, the mother of his youngest child, have reached a child support settlement that ends a year of litigation in Manhattan Family Court.

The support agreement for Christian Casey Combs, 3, was sealed, but the rap impresario's lawyer, Eleanor Grosz, said it runs until the child turns 21 and provides for his education, medical care and other needs.

The parents have joint legal custody, but the child's primary residence will be with his mother in Columbus, Ga., Grosz said. The agreement ``allows for full involvement by both parents'' in Christian's upbringing, she said.

Combs, 32, runs the Bad Boy Entertainment music publishing and recording company and has his own fashion line, Sean John, and several restaurants. He reportedly earns several million dollars a year.

While the financial details of the agreement were not divulged, Combs reportedly pays $5,000 a month to hip-hop fashion stylist Misa Hylton-Brim, of Mount Vernon, N.Y., for the support of their son, Justin Combs, 6.

Family Court Hearing Examiner David Kirshblum had said earlier that if he had to decide the case, he would order more child support than the record $12,825 a month that cosmetics billionaire Ronald Perelman was ordered to pay for his daughter.

Tuesday's session marked the first time the rapper had come to court in the case. The judge noted his appearance and said, ``Mr. Combs, welcome to Family Court. This is the first time we've seen you here.''

Combs replied, ``Yeah. I finally got around to coming.''

He later told the court that he had not intended to show any disrespect to the court or to the judge by not appearing earlier. Rather, he said, he wanted an agreement in place so he would not waste his or the court's time.

Combs and Porter, 30, left court together. On the way out, he said, ``The decision to come to Family Court was a joint decision. Because we're not married, we wanted to have the financial situation formalized by the court.''

Combs chuckled about the continuous bickering between the lawyers in the case but said he and Porter have always remained friends.

Porter and her lawyer did not immediately talk about the settlement.
