ATLANTA - An organization that assists battered women and their children has filed suit against BellSouth.
The lawsuit claims that the telephone company published addresses of two shelters in metro Atlanta that were supposed to be secret.
The Partnership Against Domestic Violence filed the suit Monday in Fulton County Superior Court. The suit says in one case an Internet map gave directors to the shelter in Fulton County.
The organization's executive director -- Cathy Spraetz -- says she does not know of any time that an abuser contacted his victim at a shelter as a result of publicizing the address.
Lynn Bress -- speaking for BellSouth -- said the company's lawyers had received a copy of the suit but have not had a chance to review it, so BellSouth is not in a position to comment.
