Local tennis teams post wins

The West Hall boys continue to play well the Hall County Tennis Tournament.<br> <br> Thursday, the Spartans knocked off Johnson 5-0.<br> <br> #1 singles Joseph Pate defeated Dustin Gibbons 6-1, 6-1 <br> #2 Drew Wilkerson def. Drew Nutter 6-0, 6-0 <br> #3 Matt Whiting def. Zack Wojeck 6-0, 6-0 <br> <br> #1 doubles Nathan Reed/Steven Craig def. Walley Smith/Phat Vu 6-1, 6-1 <br> #2 Kevin Samples/Mark Braza def. Charles Estrada/John Michaels 6-0, 6-1 <br> <br> Winning JV matches for West Hall: Drew Ivey, Khalil Khlifi, Daniel Sage, and <br> Michael Holland <br> <br> West Hall is 4-1 on the year and 4-1 in the County Tournament. <br> <br> West Hall will play North Hall at home on Monday in a region match.<br> <br> The Johnson girls averted a sweep by edging the Lady Spartans 3-2 at Gainesville College.<br> <br> Both Gainesville teams went to 2-0 on the season as they swept the North Hall teams in the Tournament, 5-0.<br> <br> For the GHS boys, Grant Patrick, Ben Stewart,and Matt Fowler won in straight sets in singles. The doubles teams of Mark Easley/Drew Turner as well as Jim Simons/John Nott also won in straight sets.<br> <br> The Lady Elephants also won all their matches in straight sets. Lauren Weiss, Emily Brooksher, and LeeAnne Gross won in singles with Michelle Fuller/Emilee Kemp and Whitney Turner/Beth Stroberg wining in doubles.<br> <br> The GHS squads are scheduled to continue Tournament Play Monday by hosting Lakeview.<br> <br> Thursday, the Lakeview girls (2-1)beat North Forsyth 4-1. Cassie Martin and Sarine Bhole won at one and two singles, while the doubles teams of Elizabeth Hamilton/Deidre Lohn and Clare Marshall/Taylor Lee also posted wins. The Lion boys fell to Forsyth 4-0.<br> <br> The Lakeview boys have a Friday make-up scheduled with Riverside.<br> <br>
